Ian M Lindsay - Wentworth Hall 2009
Biography

Ian was born into a musical family on April 11th 1967, in Sefton, Merseyside (or Lancashire as it was then). He performed in front
of an audience for the first time at the age of seven, with his
father, an accomplished singer and Jazz pianist.
At the age of eleven, he became a child soprano with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Subsequent Philharmonic Hall concerts were broadcast live on BBC Radio3 including: Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana' and Benjamin Britten's 'Spring Symphony'.

Studied drama and music at Liverpool University.

Performed / wrote / produced songs around the Liverpool music circuit 1986-1996.
During this period, in 1993 his own band 'The Green Room' were voted top live original act by The Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts (L.I.P.A) and represented England in the Keele Rock festival in Germany. The band were runners up in the Northern Songwriters of the year awards in the same year.

Between June and September 1994 as an actor and musician, Ian co-starred in Bill Kenwright's hit stage show "Imagine - The John Lennon story", portraying Paul McCartney.

The following year he repeated the role In Fred Lawless's production of the musical comedy "Best" at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre and Trinity College, Dublin.

With acclaimed theatre shows under his belt and utilizing his experiences over the last 21 years, he wrote, scored, directed and starred in his own touring stage musical: "The Moptops".

To date he has made appearances on TV's "The Bill", "Brookside" and in the film "Elizabeth". In between his session recording, writing and production work for other artists, several performances were made on BBC, Sky, Cable CNN and in Japan.

As well as performing his own Modern Moods Show,
he also sings, plays Banjo and guitar for The Black Diamonds Skiffle Band
and sings and plays lead guitar with tribute to the 'Swingin' Sixties' The Silver Searchers

Over the last few years he's been busy:
  • writing a novel: "Back to where it all began"

  • re-drafting a highly praised collection of poetry and prose:
    "Fit, for human consumption"

  • completing a new album of original songs:
    "Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder"
